Vilas Dhar is the founder of the Next Mile Project, one of the largest nonprofit accelerators in the United States. At the philanthropically supported Next Mile Project, nonprofit organizations receive access to world-class resources to support and scale their global impact including innovation support, professional workspace, back office support, funding opportunities, and strategic and communications talent, thereby leveraging private sector expertise for public welfare. The Next Mile Project was acquired by the Social Innovation Forum in 2017. Dhar now serves as a senior adviser to governments and organizations building innovation ecosystems, with a focus on growth directed by values of global equity, respect, and diversity and inclusion. Through his private office, he also identifies, funds, and champions incredible changemakers around the world. Dhar has served as the Gleitsman Fellow in Leadership in Social Change at the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University and as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Illinois. He holds an MPA from Harvard University, a J.D. from New York University School of Law, and Bachelor’s Degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Illinois.
